Evaluation, Advocacy & Lots of Energy: 2020 in Focus
As 2020 begins, the energy at CWEE is palpable.
Our incredible team is committed to further sharpening CWEE’s programs to deliver maximum ROI – for workers, for families, and for our community. Here are some big things we are looking forward to:
Evaluation planning kicks off with J-PAL
What is it about CWEE’s program that effectively empowers low-income workers to thrive in a changing labor market?
This year, we are taking huge strides toward an answer to this question, which will enable CWEE to scale our effective strategies in the future.
Researchers from the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab at MIT (J-PAL) were on-site at CWEE last week meeting with our program leaders and observing our skills training in action.
To help CWEE design a randomized evaluation, researchers must first immerse themselves in the details of CWEE’s workforce development continuum – from individual support to interview preparation (and everything in between).
More updates in the months to come!
Advocacy empowers participants and promotes systems change
CWEE infuses our employment training curriculum with leadership and advocacy training to give our participants the skills to advocate effectively for themselves and their families and contribute to broader systems change.
Leadership is part of how CWEE empowers families to be self-supporting, and our advocacy work is moving ahead with important initiatives. In 2020, CWEE will:
- Be active in 11 issue-focused coalitions, taking positions on state and local policy
- Advise and impact policy initiatives with advocacy partners and policymakers
- Testify at the Capitol on priority issues
- Engage as a Census 2020 outreach partner
- Conduct nonpartisan voter engagement and training
