Chris Weeks – Volunteer of the Day
It’s #NationalVolunteersWeek!
In 2022, CWEE is celebrating 40 years of building confidence, community, and careers and we could not have reached this milestone without the support of our volunteers. April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, and one of the ways we are celebrating is by featuring a Volunteer of the Day each day this week.
Today, we recognize CWEE Board Member, Chris Weeks.
Chris Weeks is a champion inside and outside of the Board Room and leverages his personal and professional connections to advance CWEE’s mission. He most recently facilitated the development of establishing a talent pipeline connecting CWEE career seekers to Comcast’s Loyalty Agent program. Chris isn’t afraid to roll up his sleeves, literally.
During our Back-to-School Supply Distribution, Chris volunteered to carry essential items and back-to-school supplies for a participant who lived a “few” blocks away. Chris has also made volunteering at CWEE a family affair – his wife Angie often donates clothing from her boutique to CWEE’s 1st Impressions boutique, they both are regular attenders at our Annual Harvesting Opportunities Fundraiser and were a part of our Inaugural Turkey Dinner Distribution.

What led you to Volunteer with CWEE?
The CWEE mission really captured my interest and passion both personally and professionally. Personally, I fell in love with the mission of helping in large part, single moms, working to find paths to long term employment and success. Professionally, I was excited to represent Comcast’s commitment to advancing Digital Equity and connecting more people to the Internet and the technology they need to participate and excel in an increasingly digital world. For more than a decade, Comcast has been a leader in working to advance digital equity in our communities and help build a future of Unlimited Possibilities (Project UP). Backed by a $1 billion commitment to reach tens of millions of people nationwide, Project UP encompasses the Comcast programs and community partnerships with organizations like CWEE, that connect people to the Internet, advance economic mobility, and open doors for the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, storytellers, and creators.
What is your favorite part about volunteering with CWEE?
It is hard to pinpoint what’s my favorite part about volunteering, but safe to say the best part for me is it gives me the ability to work side by side with the CWEE staff members, board members, and their families. I’m always in awe of the passion and effort that CWEE staffers give their participants. I really value being able to connect directly with participants when these volunteering opportunities arise. To be able to talk with and get to know a participant is immeasurably valuable to help me as a board member have participants’ best interests top of mind when providing guidance. Lastly, it is simply just the smiles we see on participants’ and family members’ faces when they engage with CWEE at these remarkable events.
Thank you, Chris, from all of us for all that you do; we appreciate you!
