CWEE would like to recognize and honor our longtime supporter and friend William W. Grant III, known to all as Peter, who passed peacefully on December 12, 2020.
Peter was a man of tremendous character, integrity and generosity, who valued his family and the well-being of the community above all.
Peter and his wife of 65 years, Rhondda, were supporters of CWEE for three decades. They generously invested in our mission and offered their time and talents to build and enhance our organization. In fact, Rhondda was the second ever chair of the CWEE Board of Directors.
After a 35-year successful career in banking, Peter began a second career as a philanthropist, serving on the boards of Gates Family Foundation, Denver Museum of Nature and Science, The Nature Conservancy of Colorado, The National Trust for Historic Preservation, The Episcopal Church Foundation, Four Mile Historic Park, Iliff School of Theology, among others.
Peter was born in New York in 1932 and moved to his parents’ home state of Colorado in 1958, three years after he married Rhondda, whom he met at Yale University. He is survived by Rhondda, their three daughters, six grandchildren, and countless friends.
“Peter was an inspiring example of a person who dedicated his life to building a stronger, healthier and more beautiful community,” said Katy Hamilton, CEO.
“CWEE and so many other organizations have benefited tremendously from the Grant family’s support. Our hearts go out to Peter’s family during this difficult time, but we are comforted by the incredible legacy that he leaves.”
