Volunteer Spotlight

Kara Conley, Bright Horizons

Kara began volunteering her time providing additional insight of the hiring process in 2015 as a CWEE mock interviewer and resume reviewer. During this time, she provided job leads and recommendations to participants interested in her field, and helped facilitate connections among participants and hiring managers if the opportunity seemed like an ideal fit for the career seeker. As Kara transitioned into her current role, she continued to connect CWEE job seekers with job leads and career opportunities and has recruited her fellow colleagues and hiring managers to assist with the mock interviewing process. In addition, Kara continues to provide pertinent resume feedback necessary for our students to gain employment in their desired field.

Thank you for your continued support, Kara!

CWEE offers a variety of opportunities for individuals and companies to support Colorado’s workforce. Below are ways you can get involved individually or bring a team to help CWEE.

First Impressions Boutique

CWEE’s on-site boutique provides participants and alumni, both men and women, with current business casual and business professional attire.  The boutique not only provides a valuable service to our participants and alumni, but also builds their self-esteem and gives them pride in their appearance so they may obtain long-term employment.

If you would like to sort donations and ensure that our boutique stays organized and current, please contact Erinn Chambers at 303-892-8444 or

Preparing Students for Employment

  • Mock Interviews: Donate your time and experience in hiring by serving as a mock interviewer. Mock interviews happen every other Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and can be done on-site at CWEE or over the phone. Each mock interviewer will get a packet that includes a participant’s resume, job description, list of questions and a rating sheet. Interviewers have the opportunity to provide valuable feedback and experience to support our career seekers in their job search process.
  • Resume Reviewer: Share your experience as a hiring manager and provide feedback on resumes submitted. This process can be completed electronically and works well with volunteers who need flexibility.

All volunteer positions for this area are currently filled.

Work Experience Opportunities

  • Internships: Provide an opportunity (4 – 12 weeks) for a career seeker to build and enhance their work experience through a supervised work experience that is non-paid. CWEE provides workers compensation for all interns.
  • Job Shadow: Host an interested career seeker for a day or ½ day to gain a first-hand look at what it’s like to work in your industry.
