Volunteer Spotlight

Marion Mobley

CWEE would like to highlight one of its newest volunteers, Marion Mobley. Marion began volunteering with The Learning Source and CWEE in 2017, as a tutor within the high school equivalency program. With a background in computer programming, he’s also lent his expertise to participants completing their digital literacy certificates in Phase II of the program. A native of Atlanta, Marion’s love of travel has taken him all over the world, including Botswana, where he served in the Peace Corps. Marion and his wife enjoy traveling and taking advantage of all the outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer. When he’s not tutoring, you may find him riding his bike across the country, or skydiving (he’s completed over 800 jumps!!). Thanks, Marion, for all your support of CWEE’s participants!

Career Exploration Tour

Hyatt Regency Denver

CWEE staff and participants had the opportunity to explore careers in the hospitality industry thanks to our partner, Hyatt Regency Denver at the Colorado Convention Center. Participants and members of CWEE’s employment services team enjoyed a behind the scenes tour of the Hyatt and learned about the various positions that exist to not only be one of Denver’s popular destinations for both locals and visitors, but also one of Fortune 100’s Best Companies to Work for in 2017. Attendees also had a private Q & A session with key members of Hyatt’s team who shared their career paths, why they enjoy being a part of the culture at Hyatt and insider information on Hyatt’s application process. Thanks to partners like Hyatt, CWEE is able to provide career seekers opportunities to explore career options that help guide their decisions in choosing their next step towards their career path.

Volunteer at CWEE

CWEE offers a variety of opportunities for individuals and companies to support Colorado’s workforce. Below are ways you can get involved individually or bring a team to help CWEE.

First Impressions Boutique

CWEE’s on-site boutique provides participants and alumni, both men and women, with current business casual and business professional attire.  The boutique not only provides a valuable service to our participants and alumni, but also builds their self-esteem and gives them pride in their appearance so they may obtain long-term employment.

If you would like to sort donations and ensure that our boutique stays organized and current, please contact DeAnna Castaneda at 303-892-8444 or dcastaneda@cwee.org.

Preparing Students for Employment

  • Mock Interviews: Donate your time and experience in hiring by serving as a mock interviewer. Mock interviews happen every other Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and can be done on-site at CWEE or over the phone. Each mock interviewer will get a packet that includes a participant’s resume, job description, list of questions and a rating sheet. Interviewers have the opportunity to provide valuable feedback and experience to support our career seekers in their job search process.
  • Resume Reviewer: Share your experience as a hiring manager and provide feedback on resumes submitted. This process can be completed electronically and works well with volunteers who need flexibility.

All volunteer positions for this area are currently filled.

Work Experience Opportunities

  • Internships: Provide an opportunity (4 – 12 weeks) for a career seeker to build and enhance their work experience through a supervised work experience that is non-paid. CWEE provides workers compensation for all interns.
